Volunteer Requirements

All Holy Trinity volunteers contribute to the safety of our students.  Volunteers may be in class parties, driving for a field trip, assisting a teacher during the school day, helping in the lunchroom, monitoring recess, or contributing to the community in a hundred other ways -- but all keep the safety of our children first and foremost in all our activities.

For that reason, volunteers are required to complete four steps before they are cleared to volunteer in any role.

Step 1: Pass a criminal background check (renewed every three years)
Contact the school office or email our campus minister, Chris Storm, at [email protected] to request a background check.  The school will place an order through our partner, Praesidium, which will send you an email with a link to complete the check.

Step 2: Attend C.A.S.E. training
All volunteers attend a one-time, in-person training called "Creating A Safe Environment" or C.A.S.E.  Holy Trinity holds C.A.S.E. training at least once a month from September through December.  Dates, times, and a simple registration form are posted on the parish website, www.h-t.org/safe-environment.

Step 3: Know the policies of the Archdiocese of Portland
Via the Praesidium website, read and acknowledge the policies of the Archdiocese around the interactions between adults and minors in our school community.  You can request access to that website from the school office or from Mr. Storm.

Step 4: Complete an online training module
Each year the archdiocese assigns an online training on the Praesidium website.  This year's module is "Maintaining a culture of safety in youth-serving organizations."  It takes most people 20-30 minutes to complete.

After all four steps are complete, your name will be added to the master-list of cleared volunteers for the school year.  All four steps must be completed before an adult is able to volunteer at any school event at which children are present.
